The balance of power and efficiency

The 2.4L DiD MIVEC engine brings you the best of both worlds. For towing, or tricky terrain, you have 135kW of power and 437Nm of torque at your disposal. To keep costs down for the everyday commute, you’ll enjoy 8.0L per 100km economy. Pajero Sport is able to do this thanks to the clever use of 4 cylinders and the many efficiency systems we’ve refined over years of building smarter engines.

8-speed transmission

The transmission system has been designed to improve performance, efficiency and to get the most from the traction systems. There are more gears, with cleverly spaced ratios between them delivering a smooth ride. In lower gears, the ratio is greater to enhance acceleration. In higher gears, the ratios are shallower to improve economy and reduce transmission noise.

Save fuel when standing still

The Idle Neutral Control reduces internal oil pressure to first gear when you’re stopped but the engine’s running. After all, there’s no point using more fuel than you have to.

Efficiency matters

Building an SUV with big reserves of power is fairly straightforward. Making it efficient requires sophisticated engineering know-how. Despite its considerable engine output official test results achieved 8.0L/100km. It’s good for the planet and the pocket.

Simply connect your smartphone to the Smartphone Link Display Audio by a USB cable and phone calls, navigation, sending and receiving messages, and listening to music will come alive on your built-in display screen. Maps are automatically updated. So you don’t need to update Maps anymore. Voice command keeps your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Smartphone Link Display Audio is basically equipped with rearview system and FM/AM/DAB etc. This also
offers hands-free call and music via Bluetooth®*1, as
well as playing contents stored in USB or HDMI device.

The best equipped for safety

Pajero Sport surpasses the requirements for the 5 Star ANCAP Safety rating, the highest category for safety. On every vehicle, you’ll find an integrated system of safety features to elevate your safety to the next level. All models feature Forward Collision Mitigation and Blind Spot Warning. The Forward Collision Mitigation system (FCM) detects when the vehicle in front of you is slowing. If you haven’t applied the brakes, it will automatically slow you down to help avoid a collision. It even brings you to a complete stop if necessary. There’s also Blind Spot Warning system, very useful in multi-lane traffic.

Pajero Sport VRX offers intelligent, pro-active safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control for even more reassurance. The Multi Around View camera gives you a bird’s eye view of what’s around you, which is a vital safety feature when you’re reversing. The vehicle even helps stop you moving into objects in car parks, by cancelling out unintended inputs from the accelerator.

Introducing MATT

Mitsubishi All Terrain Technology, commonly known as MATT, is a combination of traction systems. It’s what enables Pajero Sport to tow, haul and operate in all terrains, just as the name implies. It’s something that we developed in the Paris–Dakar rally. It worked so well it made sense to put it on our road vehicles. On or off-road, there’s no surer way of keeping control.

Hill Start Assist

If you’re on a steep hill, this system applies the brakes for a few seconds while you move your foot from brake to accelerator, preventing roll back. How civilised.

Active Traction Control (ATC)

This system is a feature of Active Stability Control and responds immediately to loss of traction. By braking the wheel that’s slipping and sending power to the others, it means you keep the path you intended as you turn or negotiate tricky surfaces.

Active Stability Control

Maintains stability and control when cornering, by automatically recognising under-steer and over-steer. It applies brakes to the appropriate wheels to keep you online through corners.

Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

This technology reduces stopping distances by detecting passengers or heavier loads and automatically increases rear-braking force.

Multi-mode Anti Lock Braking System (ABS)

This allows you to manoeuvre around objects under heavy braking conditions. Pajero Sport’s intelligent 4-channel, 4-sensor braking system works in conjunction with the drive mode to monitor different wheel speeds and activate brakes to individual wheels when required to deliver superior control.

ed so well it made sense to put it on our road vehicles. On or off-road, there’s no surer way of keeping control.

4WD

The best off-road system

In addition to clever traction systems and driver aids that make short work of rough ground, Pajero Sport is the first Mitsubishi to carry the advanced Off-Road mode, which gets you out of terrain that other SUVs would struggle with. Naturally, you’re not going bush bashing every day. But if you’re heading up to the snow and the road is iced, you and your family will be glad the extra grip is there.

See how Pajero Sport does towing and 4WD

Whatever you need to haul, wherever you need to take it, Pajero Sport makes it easy. On board you’ll find serious traction systems, advanced safety features and all the power you’ll need. Watch the video to learn more.

Active Stability Control

Maintains stability and control when cornering, by automatically recognising under-steer and over-steer. It applies brakes to the appropriate wheels to keep you online through corners.

Deep water, no trouble

A vehicle built for adventure is going to come across water here and there. Pajero Sport lets you wade confidently up to a depth of 700mm.

Off road mode, ultimate grip in all conditions

When you’re in the lowest 4WD setting and need a bit more help with the terrain, Off Road Mode comes to your rescue. It manipulates the engine, transmission and brakes to cope with gravel, mud or snow, sand and rock.

Off Road Modes

Gravel

This setting gives the necessary amount of wheel slip to allow for acceleration and vehicle stability on unpaved surfaces, such as small stones or earth.

Mud/Snow

This setting controls wheel slip to keep the vehicle stable and prevent you from getting stuck. If it senses you’re close to being stuck, the system reduces engine control, increasing your ability to keep moving. Once moving, it permits a small amount of slip and reduces input from the Active Traction Control, part of the Active Stability and Traction Control system.

Sand

When you’re driving across sand, this system minimises wheel slip to stop you getting bogged and uses the centre limited slip differential to help you get out. The automatic transmission employs a separate shifting pattern, which allows the lower gears to keep you moving. Once you’ve gathered a little speed, the Active Stability and Active Traction Control systems keep you moving smooth and straight.

Rock

On a highly uneven surface like rock, this setting reduces wheel slip and uses the centre limited slip differential to send power to the wheels that have the best contact with the ground. This system also allows for very steep rock surfaces. The transmission shifts between lower gears to maintain power and traction.

Super Select 4WD

2H (2WD high range)

For regular road driving, this setting gives you power, solid handling and the best economy.

4H (full-time 4WD)

If the weather, or the road itself is not too flash, the ability to drive in high range 4WD is a serious safety boost.

4HLC (4WD high range)

When you’re off-road, this setting distributes power to all four wheels equally. The new off-road mode gives you added grip and stability in rough conditions.

4LLC (4WD Low Range with Locked Centre Differential)

When the track runs out, or disappears beneath the mud, this mode will make you glad you’re in a Pajero Sport. It sends all of Pajero Sport’s power and traction to the wheels. If you try this system and still want more climbing ability, might we suggest a helicopter.
