Engine

The 2.4L MIVEC intercooled turbo diesel engine cranks out a massive 135kW of power and 437Nm of torque. This creates a hefty 3,100kg braked towing capacity and payload of 965kgs on 4WD GLS.

Many gearbox options

Just like the choice of body types and accessories, Triton’s gearbox options let you put together a vehicle for your exact needs. Triton GLS offers a 6 speed manual and 5 speed automatic and is available with dial up 2WD/4WD range selector, sports mode and paddle shifts. The sports mode setting enables the automatic to function like a manual, but without a clutch. This makes for near-instant gear changes, great on slippery surfaces.

Incredible economy

Thanks to the new engine and body, all-new Triton has outstanding fuel economy of 7.1 to 7.6L per 100km across the range.

Fuel economy figures are official results based on test regime ADR81/02.

Aerodynamic

Triton has been designed to be extremely aerodynamic. The improved new body has the lowest drag coefficient in its class. This means better fuel efficiency and less wind noise, so it’s much quieter at high speeds.

RISE body design

Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body design, or RISE, makes Triton stiff and, therefore, safer in a collision. It means that the cabin area keeps its shape, while energy of the impact is transferred away. A stiff chassis also makes for better driving and handling of large loads.

Trailer Stability Assist System

Trailers tend to be unstable things. Mitsubishi’s Trailer Stability Assist system brings them back into line. Sensors detect sway, brakeforce is applied to the appropriate wheel and engine power is adjusted to stabilise the motion. The stop lamp is illuminated while the brake control of Trailer Stability Assist System operates.

Keep your speed down

To ensure you don’t go over the speed limit when you’re on the road, Triton features a driver adjustable speed limiter.

Introducing MATT

Mitsubishi All Terrain Technology, commonly known as MATT, is a combination of traction systems. It’s what enables Triton to tow, haul and operate in all terrains, just as the name implies. It’s something that we developed in the Paris–Dakar rally. It worked so well it made sense to put it on our other vehicles. On or off-road, there’s no surer way of keeping control.

Active Traction Control (ATC)

ATC reacts immediately to loss of traction, maintaining your line around a corner or obstacle. If a wheel slips, ATC applies brake force to that wheel and sends power to the others. It means you keep traction on even the loosest surface.

Active Stability Control (ASC)

To combat over- or under-steer, this system senses when to apply brakeforce or engine power to each wheel independently. This keeps you on the best and safest line through a corner. You wouldn’t want to hit the road or track without it.

Multi-mode Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

This system lets you steer away from danger while you brake hard. The EBD side of things senses the vehicle attitude and the surface you’re on and sends the optimal amount of brakeforce to each wheel. It’s the best way to avoid unexpected hazards.

Loaded with airbags

Triton gives you 7 airbags across the range, including a new driver’s knee airbag. These airbags are dual-stage, which is the safest, most effective way to inflate the airbags and lessen injury.

If you need to place a child restrain in the front, you can deactivate the passenger airbag with the key mechanism in the glove box.

Big brakes

With the remarkable engine on board, Triton goes. Thanks to big ventilated front disc and rear drum brakes, it stops just as well.

Daytime running lights (DRLs) & high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps.

Triton features our best headlight design ever. The Super Wide High Intensity Discharge headlamps on GLS and VRX models spray the light over a wide area. It means more safety and an easier drive, with the added safety of LED daytime running Lights.

What’s going on back there?

Wellside models feature a reversing camera for safety when you’re moving backwards and visibility is limited.

Smartbrake

Here’s another innovative feature that’s there just in case. If you unintentionally hit your accelerator pedal as well as your brake in an emergency situation, the new SmartBrake system spots the error, cancels out the message from the gas pedal and puts full concentration on your braking.

Hill start assist

This technology makes it easier to start off a steep uphill slope by preventing the vehicle from rolling backwards. It maintains the braking force for two seconds while you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator.

Super Select 4WD

Triton is one of the few utes that can be driven in 4WD on tarseal. This gives you the maximum amount of grip and, of course, safety. Triton GLS & VRX 4WD only.

Easy Select 4WD on Triton GLX

Like the Super Select 4WD system, Easy Select allows you to change traction modes on the move. The three settings give you ultimate economy from 2WD, right down to serious stump-pulling low range 4WD.

All the grip you’ll need

Wherever you get into your Triton, the R/D Lock button gets you out (GLX double cab and VRX 4WD only). It engages the Rear Diff Lock, which sends equal power to both back wheels, keeping them turning and, more importantly, gripping in even the slushiest conditions.

Welcoming interior

After a day of serious slog you’ll enjoy stepping, or collapsing, into Triton’s supremely comfortable interior. Everywhere you look, or sit, you’ll find advanced, redesigned features. Every model offers new sports bucket front seats, which are wider and more supportive. You’ll find long drives are no effort at all. You’ll also find them much quieter. The cabin is the perfect environment to enjoy music or footy commentary. GLS and VRX offer a 6-speaker stereo with MP3 compatibility and USB. Visibility is excellent, with large well-positioned windows.

All the room you need

Triton has extra space where you need it most. There’s plenty of leg and head room, plus foot space under the front seats.

The right information

All Tritons feature a touch screen. This screen puts all kinds of useful info at your finger tips. All wellside models feature a reversing camera. All models are USB and Bluetooth compatible, making it easy to play the sounds you want.

All the extras

To top it all off, new Triton GLS and VRX are fully equipped with rain sensing wipers & automatic headlights, push button start, and dual zone air con. You’ll barely have to lift a finger.

All models feature the ease of keyless entry, ideal when you have got your arms full.
